Michael North is an attorney at NORTH
WEBER & BAUGH LLP, an intellectual property law firm
located in Silicon Valley.
Mr. North specializes in all facets of
patent law, where he has extensive experience in numerous
technologies, including: telecommunications, network
protocol and security, signal processing, wireless and
satellite communication, and optics. He also participates
in the evaluation of intangible assets, such as patents
and proprietary technology, for tax and acquisition
purposes.
Mr. North received his undergraduate
education at the University of Utah, graduating with a
B.S. in electrical engineering and B.A. in German. During
his undergraduate studies, Mr. North worked at Evans &
Sutherland Computer Corp. as an engineering intern working
in circuit design and simulation, and at Alpnet, Inc. as a
German/English translator. Prior to attending law school,
Mr. North worked for Motorola, Satellite Communication
Division, developing a high bandwidth-low power satellite
communication platform.
Mr. North attended law school at Boston
University, graduating with a J.D. During law school, Mr.
North was a note editor for The Boston University
International Law Journal and published “The U.S.
Expansion of Patentable Subject Matter: Creating A
Competitive Advantage For Foreign Multinational
Companies?” (18 B.U. INTL L.J. 111).

Mr. North interned in the Special Program Examiners Office
at the United States Patent & Trademark Office and worked
as a summer associate for Fenwick & West. Prior to
founding NORTH WEBER & BAUGH LLP, Mr. North worked in the
patent group at Fenwick & West and the intellectual
property group at McDermott, Will & Emery.
Mr. North is an adjunct professor at the Santa Clara
University School of Law, where he teaches a class on
Patent Law and Procedure.
Mr. North is
a member of the California Bar and is registered to
practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr.
North sits on the U.S. Patent Law Committee of the
Intellectual Property Owners Association. Mr. North is
also a member of the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property
Association, the American Intellectual Property Law
Association, the Intellectual Property Section of the
American Bar Association, and IEEE. |
